Passenger Arrival Records
Obtaining a passenger arrival record for your relative requires some knowledge of port of arrival
and approximate date. Actual date of arrival and port may appear on the individual's
naturalization record. Passenger arrival indices are not available for all ports for all
years. I do not recommend manifests prior to 1900 due to lack of detail on the manifest record.
Information given on the passengers of a ship usually includes the following; however,
country of origin may be substituted for town and country.
- Immigrant's given name
- Immigrant's surname
- Ship name
- Port of origin
- Arrival date
- Line number on manifest
- Gender
- Age
- Marital status
- Nationality
- Last residence (town & country)
